Yes, it is the same chia from the “cha cha cha chia pet, the pottery that grows,” and eating it turns out to be the best kept secret of all.

Containing over 27 key nutrients, chia seeds have six times more calcium than milk, 100% more Omega-3 nutrients than salmon, and 41% of your overall daily fiber needs. The vast benefits of chia seeds include increased energy levels, improved digestion, and better complexion. They can also tone your muscles, boost your mental sharpness, allow you to sleep better at night, and much more. You can eat them in a variety of ways. Add to juice, smoothies, salads, or try delicious chia pudding.

Chia Pudding

To make this nourishing pudding, combine 2/3 cup chia seeds, 2 cups almond milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a 1-quart glass jar or bowl. Shake or stir well to thoroughly combine and refrigerate the mixture overnight. When ready to serve, stir well and top with fruit and coconut.

Chia in Water

My favorite way to consume chia is to simply add a teaspoon to my water bottle. They puff up and greatly increase the hydrating effect of your water, and don’t change the flavor of the water at all. Come on down to the Bistro and pick up a bag of super high quality chia seeds, and experience the magical seed for yourself.

Steph McCreary believes that Kundalini Yoga is a technology, which when properly engaged, will deliver the student to experience his or her birthright: to be happy, to be healthy, and to be holy.

Kundalini 101 is designed to introduce you to the history and the basics of Kundalini Yoga, including:

Tuning In

Breath of Fire

Warm Ups

Postures

Correct Usage & Pronunciation of Kundalini Mantras

Effects of Specific Meditations

While Kundalini is powerful as an individual practice, the effects of Kundalini Yoga are greatly enhanced by practicing together and experiencing the group alignment. As Steph say, “When we practice together, we arrive together…”

Kundalini Yoga complements your current practice, and benefits include:

Build core strength and endurance

Clear energetic & emotional channels

Cleanse the blood

Rebuild the nervous system

Balance hormones

Integrate brain hemisphere activity

This coming Friday we will again have the special opportunity to immerse ourselves in the delicious sound and vibrational healing of Stephen Pranger’s ‘The Cryslas™ Way’. The frequencies and vibrations produced by the Crystal Singing Bowls harmonize and resonate with our whole being. It is a group sound healing experience not to be missed in our beautiful studio.

Since everything in our universe is energy and has a vibration, sound healing resonates with our body, having profound healing effects on our organs and different bodily systems. Scientific studies have now shown that sound effects our autonomic, immune & endocrine systems as well as the neuropeptide transmitters in our brain. The work of Dr. Masaru Emoto on water molecules also shows the profound effect that sound has on matter. For example, when the the sound of OM is toned the water molecules take on the mandala form of the Shri Yantra symbol, whereas when a discordant sound is played the water molecules become structureless. Our bodies are made up of 80-90% water!

Stephen Pranger’s Crystal Singing Bowls are made from 99.9992% pure quartz. WOW! Quartz produces a piezoelectric effect, which causes the energy produced to be emitted as light, heat and electricity. With your subtle perception you may be able to see all colors of the rainbow being emitted. The tones and resonance created by this form of sound healing are truly magical and amazing.

You will feel remarkable clear after experiencing this sound bath. Join Us!

Fully clothed, you lie down on the comfortable mat on the floor and allow yourself to begin to relax. Your shiatsu massage therapist begins to apply pressure with her fingers, thumbs and the palms of her hands, focusing on specific acupressure points and meridians in your body.

Just like we have a blood circulation system, our bodies also have a bio-energy-circulation system. This bio-energy, also known as qi, flows along 12 primary meridians, or channels, in the body. These channels run symmetrically on each side of the body. And each pair of meridians are related to a specific organ system. Shiatsu is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and these organ systems are defined according to TCM, and do not necessarily have the same functions as in Western Medicine.

You may find that some places on your body feel very tender and painful when your shiatsu massage therapist applies pressure there. This can indicate that there are blockages in the energy flow in the point or meridian that she is working on. The best thing to do is to breath deeply into the sensations with long, steady breaths, and stay as present as possible. By staying present with the sensations you will receive the shiatsu massage deeper into your body and more energy can be freed up.

Shiatsu massage stimulates and increases the body’s innate healing response by allowing all of the energy channels in the body to flow unobstructed. When our bio-energy is flowing with ease and vitality, then the body will naturally heal itself of any imbalances.

You will find yourself completely relaxed at the end of your shiatsu massage session. Notice the difference in the state of your physical body, as well as the shift in your mental state. Relish in the freed energy flows in your being, and watch the effects ripple out into all areas of your life.

Book yourself a shiatsu massage at the Bodywork Bistro and experience the healing power of shiatsu!

A great way to get the most out of your 30 minute massage is to choose to have one of our massage therapists focus on a tension zone or two – such as your back and shoulders. This allows you to receive the therapeutic benefits of deep massage in those areas that it will serve you most.

You can also choose to have a full body massage in 30 minutes and receive the healing benefits of nourishing touch on your whole body. Your muscles and cells will thank you for the attention. Just be forewarned, it will feel so good you may not be able to stop at 30 minutes. Luckily our therapists are used to this, and can add more time for your relaxation desires as needed.

Come find us downtown on Spruce and 11th St on your lunch break or stop by after work to experience for yourself a “Taste of Tranquility.” Or, join us at Whole Foods on Pearl St. when its convenient for you.

Bodywork Bistro had a wonderful time massaging yogis and festival goers during the 1st annual Hanuman Festival in Boulder, CO. We set up shop in the beautiful Chill Tent with our massage chair, massage table, and massage mat, and offered our full walk-in menu to participants and staff alike. Participants also joined us in the Chill Tent on the pillows provided for some down time between classes.

White Swan Records celebrated 20 years of great music with live performances on the festival stage that we were able to enjoy while supporting our customers to relax, release, and enjoy being in their bodies more with the finest massage and bodywork. The community came together to practice yoga and meditation, eat great food, and support the local businesses vending at the festival.

We were delighted to be a part of the 1st annual Hanuman Festival, and are already looking forward to Hanuman Fesival 2012. If you missed it this year, be sure to mark your calendars for next year’s festival in June, 2012. We will be back massaging the Boulder community on the Boulder High School lawn. Until then, visit us in downtown Boulder on the corner of 11th and Spruce St.
