The body’s capacity to balance and heal itself has always fascinated me.  In seeking the modality best suited for me, I was drawn to the ancient healing arts of Asia. The Boston Shiatsu School presented a broad spectrum of Japanese and Chinese healing techniques, all of them relying on the body’s innate intelligence to guide the session.

About my work: Everything that happens to us in life produces a response within our bodies, which we experience as sensation and emotion.  If left unprocessed, these hormones and chemicals can accumulate in our bodies, manifesting in pain, soreness, and ultimately, dis-ease. Bodywork can help flush our bodies of these toxins, relieving us of the stress of accumulated past experiences, allowing energy to flow freely and restoring balance to our bodies so that we can heal ourselves and more fully experience the present moment.

Thomas Dow

I originally studied massage on the Island of Maui in the late 80's. I incorporate the flowing and deep strokes of Hawaiian Massage into my work called Lomi Lomi. I like my work in general to be deep, but in a light and non-invasive manner. I believe deep work does not have to be stressful. I also appreciate light work and am proficient with that as well. My focus is on paying attention to all the bodies while I work. Emotional release, trauma release and energy work are focuses I blend into my massage.

Witnessing the depth transformation that takes place through bodywork inspires my work in the healing arts.  I see bodywork as a co-creation between therapist and client.  Each client is completely unique, so i believe the best approach as a therapist is to listen to what the client is saying and to what the physical body is expressing - to be fully present with an open heart.
